Our new website is up & running

When we started our website in 2005 the page had 4 languages. In 2006 I updated the german Version using a S9y-Blog and tried to create more content. This summer I updated the Englisch Version - again a S9y-Blog is beeing used. I am a little bit confused that after 1 week beeing online the new blog is still not in Google Index and of course it cannot be found using a google search :(.

Writing for a Wiki

Today I made my 3rd entry into a Wiki and it was the first time that I started a new page. At reise.Selbst-Doku.de is a Wiki that similar to wikitravel want to create content from their users and share knowledge. I started the Page about my Homecountry, Austria and yes I left a link to our website in the proper category :-).

24/7 - always online

Sometimes I am suprised about queries. It seems that people think that every webshopowner has a direct 24/7-brain-link to the internet. If you go to our website you see that we have 8 apartments and are no big hotel. Yesterday (sunday!) I got a query for a 3 day stay in the cheapest apartment. I did not reply immediately, but went out for lunch with my girlfriend. When I came home around 18:00 I got 2 new mails from the same guy with the same query ... hey guy it´s sunday !!!

Votivkirche

I get e-mails from all over the world. Most potential guests come from germany, but at least once a week we have query from a more exotic country. I know that Heinz is a male surename and that Edeltraud is a woman. A little more difficult it is to find the gender with asian or arabic names. In some cases it is even difficult to realize what is the surename.

In this case my answering mail starts with dear guest :)

PS: Withing the last 2 years I made many pictures from Vienna and I will try to use them in this blog. This time a view to the Votivkirche (Votiv church). It looks a little bit like Stephansdom, BUT it has 2 high towers (St. Stevens Cathedral has just 1) and it much younger (~150 years) than the Cathedral.

Finally our account at urlaub-anbieteris working again. The payment target of their bills is very strict and the period is quite short (1 week). As we forgot to pay for 2 weeks the account was blocked. Today I had to answer all requests and had to apologize all the inconviences our guests could have had.

Another problem started today with googe Adwords - our credits are exhausted and we got no reminder - so there will be no adwords for the next 3-4 days -> thats really sh***.

you will not find anything special here. This is just an ordinary blog that will provide a little insight to the work in an apartment rental.

about me:
my profession is being a student of law in vienna. my family started a small private apartment rental about two years ago. as I had the honour of creating our first website, I undertook all advertising, website related and reservation related stuff.
